The Students’ Representative Council (SRC) has donated three 10,000-litre water tanks to the three main hostels of the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
The beneficiary hostels are Hostel A, Hostel B, and the Nii Amon Kotei Hostel, which together accommodate more than 4,500 students.
The SRC also donated 130 pieces of toilet paper holders to be fitted in the various washrooms of the Lecture Block Complex (LBC), within the Justice Aryeetey Building.
Presenting the products at a brief ceremony on Tuesday, December 11, the SRC president, Amoah Sarfo Kwarteng, said the donation was to emphasise the SRC’s commitment to meeting the needs of students.
He said the leadership of the SRC has observed with concern the frequent water shortages in the hotels and the challenges they pose to both student’s academic and personal lives.
Mr Kwarteng stressed that the donation was to insulate students from this perennial challenge, which he says is negatively affecting their studies.
The products were received by the Hostel management, led by Mr Robert Gyeke-Darko, Director of the UPSA Business Development Centre.
He thanked the student leaders for taking proactive measures to ameliorate the plight of their colleagues.
The Dean of Students, Dr Philomena Dadzie, urged the students to put the items to good use.
