Editor-in-Chief’s Remarks – Journal of Business and Professional Studies (JBPS)

The Journal of Business and Professional Studies (JBPS) is an international scholarly business journal published by the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Ghana. As an international journal, it publishes professional and scholarly research articles in the fields of Accounting, Management, Marketing, Finance, Banking, Business Ethics, Higher Education, insurance, Real Estate, Governance, Public Policy, and Law that relate to Business Development and Social Issues that connect with business and management.

JBPS is a bi-annual refereed publication. It upholds the principles of objectivity and integrity in research and believes that the results of the research must be disseminated; for, the knowledge put out by research is of great relevance to human development and progress. In selecting papers for publication, JBPS seeks a balance between relevance and rigour.

In this fourteenth edition, seven research papers are published. The topics cover a wide range of areas within the scope of the journal. These topics include: Assessing the Global Economic Outlook During the COVID-19 Pandemic Among Emerging African Economies with Piotroski F-Score Application; Does Entrepreneurial Orientation Predict the Financial Performance of Traditional Business in Pandemic Times? A Study from Budumbram, Central Region of Ghana; Exploring Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives of SMEs During the COVID-19 Pandemic; and Health Systems Resilience and Endemic: Evidence from the COVID-19 Outbreak. The rest are: The Law on Unfair and Unlawful Termination of Employment in Ghana: Implications for Employment Relationships During COVID-19; Towards a More Credible Juvenile Justice System: Catalysed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, and Pan-bullying: A Qualitative Documentary Analysis of Bullying Stories During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

With these publications, the JBPS will continue to receive a wider readership from Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. Libraries in particularly Europe have shown keen interest in the Journal and are subscribing to it. In this regard, we express our profound appreciation to the African Journals Online (AJOL), through whose support JBPS is gaining its wide readership and recognition.

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is pleased to continue making humble contributions to both the academic and professional business community in Africa and beyond. By exploring business management issues in both developed and developing economies, the Journal of Business and Professional Studies hopes to continue to benchmark the best practices and ideas in research that can impact business in developing economies.
