The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has officially ushered in fresh undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate students at its 2026 Matriculation Ceremony held on 16 March 2026, to mark the beginning of a transformative academic journey.

In line with long-standing academic tradition, the ceremony formally admitted the new students into the University community through the administration of the matriculation oath, signifying their acceptance of the rules, values, and responsibilities that define life at UPSA.

The solemn occasion underscored the University’s enduring commitment to academic discipline, integrity, and excellence, while welcoming the matriculants into a community dedicated to scholarship, innovation, research, and service.

Addressing the matriculants, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the significance of the moment, stating:

“Today marks more than a formal university tradition; it marks the beginning of your academic journey. Through this matriculation ceremony, you are formally welcomed into a community built on scholarship, innovation, research, and service.”

He further underscored the responsibility that comes with this milestone: “Matriculation symbolises your official entry into the university community… It is both a privilege and a responsibility.”

Highlighting the institution’s growth and reputation, he noted that the current intake forms part of one of the largest cohorts in the university’s history, reflecting the increasing confidence in UPSA’s academic excellence.

Students were charged to embody the core values of discipline, integrity, and excellence, with a strong reminder that: “Excellence is not measured only by academic performance but also by character.”

Encouraging resilience and determination, the Vice-Chancellor inspired the new students to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth: “Challenges are not roadblocks; they are stepping stones toward growth.”

As the newest members of the UPSA community, the matriculants pledged to uphold the university’s values and commit themselves to a journey of knowledge, purpose, and impact.

UPSA continues to reaffirm its commitment to nurturing future leaders, innovators, and professionals who will contribute meaningfully to national and global development.
