A delegation from EKA University of Applied Sciences has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, to discuss opportunities to deepen academic collaboration between the two institutions. The visiting lecturers were in Ghana for the EKA–UPSA Academic Lecture Series, held from 2 to 3 November 2026.

Discussions centred on academic exchanges, collaborative research and knowledge sharing, with attention to how the institutions could draw on their respective expertise to enrich teaching and learning.
The delegation comprised Dr Aija Poikāne-Daumke, Dr Imants Laviņš, Rūta Treija, Dr Ingrida Veiksa and Dr Zane Veidenberga. They highlighted the value of international partnerships in broadening the academic experiences of students and faculty, supporting institutional development and encouraging the exchange of expertise across disciplines.

Sustained engagement between the two institutions offers scope for academics to examine shared challenges from different institutional and cultural perspectives. Through visiting lectures and research exchanges, faculty members can identify common scholarly interests and bring comparative insights into the classroom, helping students develop a broader understanding of how knowledge is applied in different professional and national settings.
Prof. Mawutor received the delegation alongside the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Selase Asamoah; the Registrar, Mrs Lorraine Buerkie Gyan; the Director of the J. K. Horgle Centre, Prof. Samuel Antwi; the Director of the Centre for International Education and Collaboration, Dr Edwin Ayernor; and the Director of Public Affairs, Mrs Aba Lokko.

The courtesy call provided an opportunity to consider further areas of cooperation within the existing relationship between the two universities. It complemented the EKA–UPSA Academic Lecture Series, which brought together academics from both institutions to exchange knowledge and perspectives on issues relevant to higher education and professional practice.
