29 traditional leaders complete courses at Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership

Twenty-nine traditional leaders and personnel from the Regional Houses of Chiefs have successfully completed various courses of training at the Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership (OCTL) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.

They were conferred with certificates at a graduation ceremony on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Eleven of the traditional leaders were awarded diplomas in Chieftaincy Leadership, while eighteen others received certificates in Chieftaincy Leadership.

The training programme encompassed a broad range of subjects, including conflict management, chieftaincy as an institution, land administration, strategic leadership, documentation and records management, as well as people management, all tailored to the unique needs of traditional leadership.

Addressing the traditional leaders, the Director of OCTL, Dr Frederick Doe, emphasised the importance of continuous education and training for traditional leaders and officials manning the various regional houses of chiefs.

“Our mission is to empower our traditional leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively lead their communities and manage all the resources under their care,” Dr Doe said.

“This programme not only strengthens their leadership abilities but also promotes sustainable development within their jurisdictions.”

Dr. Doe added: “As these newly certified leaders return to their communities, they carry with them the tools and knowledge to drive positive change and uphold the esteemed traditions of their heritage.”
