A total of 176 postgraduate students have graduated with various master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) at the Fifth Session of the 15th Congregation of the university.

They form part of the 5,156 students who have graduated from the university in the 2022/2023 academic year.
Addressing the graduands, Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Professor Abednego F. O. Amartey, urged them to embrace the spirit of innovation and uniqueness as they embark on their professional journeys.
He charged them to be instruments of change while challenging them to deploy the knowledge, skills, networks, exposure, and teamwork they have acquired from UPSA to better their communities.
“You have developed qualities such as initiative, rigour, and the capacity to think independently,” Prof. Amartey said. “We urge you to move forward into the future and change the world for the better.
“Life has no remote control. You have to rise up and change it yourself. So, rise up and be counted! You are today’s stars and tomorrow’s legends. Dare to dream! Dare to be different.”
Prof. Amartey advised the graduates to hold high the flag of the university by demonstrating professionalism wherever they go and be good ambassadors of UPSA.
“I urge you to join the UPSA Alumni Association to give back to your alma mater,” he said. “Be our goodwill ambassadors out there as you pursue your careers. Through the Alumni Association, you can contribute in cash and in kind to make UPSA a home-grown Harvard, Oxford, or Yale.”
The fifth and final session of the 15th congregation of UPSA also witnessed the conferment of honorary doctorate degree awards on three illustrious Ghanaian women who have made significant contributions to society.
The honorees were Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the first lady and founder of the Rebecca Foundation, Rt. Hon. Justice Joyce Bamford-Addo, the first female Speaker of Parliament and Her Ladyship Justice Georgina Theodora Wood, the first female Chief Justice of Ghana.
