Vice Chancellor cuts sod for multipurpose Lecture Hall and Management Residential Facility

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego F. O. Amartey, has led a team of senior management officials in a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a multipurpose lecture hall and management residential facility for the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

The four-storey multipurpose edifice will encompass lecture halls, faculty and support staff offices, a workshop and non-denominational worship auditoriums.

Professor Amartey remarked on the university’s ambitious vision to address infrastructure needs, which initially appeared daunting.

“In our pursuit to bridge the infrastructural gap in our university, we set ourselves an ambitious vision that seemed impossible at the onset,” he said.

“Today, with a student population of 21,000, we have already constructed two additional hostels. The twin tower multipurpose building is near completion, and we have gathered here to commence the construction of a multipurpose lecture hall and management residential facility.”

The Vice Chancellor emphasised that the construction of this new edifice marks a significant milestone in enhancing the experiences of both students and faculty members in their pursuit of academic excellence as well as their spiritual relationship with God.

“I am personally excited about this project because we are finally able to publicly thank the various student religious groups on campus for graciously donating their place of worship to the University to be converted into a University Clinic in our time of need,” Prof. Amartey said.

“Today marks the beginning of the fulfilment of the promise we made to them in 2017 when we took over their building. Let me emphasise here that the lecture hall facility will also serve as mini auditoriums for religious worship and activities for students during the weekend.”
