UPSA Faculty of Accounting and Finance to host national dialogue on tackling tax revenue leakages in Ghana

The Faculty of Accounting and Finance (FAF) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) is set to host a national dialogue on the critical issue of tax revenue leakages in Ghana.

The high-profile event is scheduled to take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, 19th May 2025, at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu Auditorium, UPSA campus.

The dialogue, which is expected to attract key stakeholders from government, academia, industry, and civil society, will be chaired by His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, the Ga Mantse.

The eminent guests of honour for the event include His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor, former President of the Republic of Ghana and several other dignitaries.

According to the Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Professor Isaac Boadi, the national dialogue seeks to provide a platform for constructive engagement on the persistent challenge of tax revenue losses, which continue to undermine Ghana’s economic development.

He emphasised that addressing these leakages is critical for enhancing domestic resource mobilisation and ensuring fiscal sustainability.

“This initiative forms part of our faculty’s commitment to fostering policy-relevant research and public discourse on pressing economic issues. By bringing together experts and policymakers, we hope to generate actionable recommendations that can guide national efforts to seal the loopholes in our tax system,” Prof. Boadi stated.

The event promises insightful presentations and panel discussions featuring leading tax experts, financial analysts, and representatives from the business community.

Keynote speakers include Prof Isaac Boadi, Dean of FAF and Eric Boachie Yiadom, Financial Economist and Senior Lecturer at UPSA.

It is open to the public, especially students, researchers, and professionals with an interest in taxation, finance, and economic governance.
