The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has awarded full scholarships to ten undergraduate students under the Ga Dangme Scholarship Scheme.
The scholarship package covers full tuition, residential accommodation, and internship opportunities for the entire duration of the beneficiaries’ studies.
The beneficiaries who will be pursuing various programs at UPSA were officially presented with their offer letters at a brief ceremony on Friday, January 31.
They include Evangeline Naa Torshie Obodai, Ebenezer Nii Anyetei Sowah, Samuel Paapa Buadu Qunsah, Theodore Akuetteh Doku, Daniel Dzabley, Malaika Naa Odey Sackey, Trinity Raphael Nii Odartey Lamptey, and Rejoice Yaa Asantewaa Quaye.
They were selected from various Ga Dangme communities, including La, Osu, Ga Mashie, Ada, and Nsakinaa.

The Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, congratulated the students on their selection and urged them to remain disciplined and committed to their studies.
He assured them that the University would monitor their academic performance and personal development while providing the necessary resources for their success.
“From today, don’t call yourselves future leaders. You are all leaders in one way or another. True leaders identify problems within their communities and develop innovative solutions,” Prof. Mawutor stated, encouraging them to aspire to leadership positions and make an impact in their communities.

The Registrar, Mrs. Lorraine Gyan, also advised the beneficiaries to conduct themselves professionally and uphold the image of both the university and the Ga State.
“As the first cohort of the Ga Dangme Scholarship Scheme, you are not just ambassadors of the Ga State but also torchbearers of the University,” Mrs Gyan said. “We, therefore, expect you to conduct yourselves professionally and be of good behaviour at all times.”
The Director of Administration, Dr. Edward Banner-Wood, further urged the students to adhere to UPSA’s professional dress code and act responsibly both on and off campus.
Malaika Naa Odey Sackey, a first-year law student and one of the beneficiaries, who spoke on behalf of her colleagues, expressed gratitude to the management of UPSA and the Ga Dangme Council for the generous support and the honour bestowed upon them.
She pledged their commitment to achieving their academic goals and making their communities proud.
The Ga Dangme Scholarship Scheme is part of UPSA’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and supporting brilliant but indigent students from Ga communities to access quality higher education.
