Personal-Branding Dominates Faculty of Management Studies Professional Day Event

The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Vodafone Ghana, has stressed yet, the importance of self-branding to prospective job seekers. Ms Agnes Emefa Essah  says the competitive nature of the corporate world requires job applicants to carve out a reputation as specialists in particular fields of interest. The CMO of Vodafone said this at the annual Professional Day celebration for final year students of the Faculty of Management Studies of UPSA. This year’s event is under the theme, “branding yourself for the corporate world.”

“It is not about certificates, there is something about performance, image and persona, she said. She advised students to develop a good attitude which is key to success in the corporate world. The CMO of vodafone concluded by urging students not to compare themselves to others but strive to be unique.

Dean of the Faculty,Prof. Albert Puni, said the annual Management and Professional Day was part of efforts of the University to prepare would-be graduating students for the job market. 

The CEO of Allure Ghana, Mrs. Dzigbordi Dosoo, spoke on the theme, Image and making Impressions. She said image hinges on one’s Appearance, Behaviour and Communication, which makes one memorable and recognizable.”   Mrs. Dosoo also mentioned and explained three elements in making a good impression, which were Clarity, Confidence and Communication. With these elements combined she said students ought to deliberately do things differently for themselves if they want to see a transformation in their lives.

The Faculty also awarded diploma and degree students for academic excellence. Ms. Janet Jampo received the best undergraduate student award in the Department of Marketing. Ms. Sogah Dela Sandra and Mr. Michael Agyemang Duah were awarded best marketing student and best Management student respectively in the Diploma class. Mr. Komla Samson Anglonu received the award for being the best Economic student. They all received Mac computers and cash prizes.

In attendance were, Prof Charles Barnor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Andrews A. Akolaa, Head of Marketing Department, Mr. Collins Badu Agyemang-Research Liaison Officer and all students’ executives of the various unions.

 The event was under the auspices of Vodafone Ghana, UT Bank, Guinness Ghana, Phase 11 Construction, Kasapreko and DKD holdings.
