Newly-elected executives of the UPSA Chapter of the University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG-UPSA) have been sworn into office at a brief handover ceremony held on Monday, September 25, at the LBC Auditorium, UPSA Campus.
The new executives include Dr Mohammed Sadat, President; Mr. Rester Togormey, Vice President; Mr. Jacob Anderson, Secretary; and Mrs. Ivy Eklemet, Treasurer.
They will steer the affairs of the association for the next two years.
Dr Frederick Doe, UTAG-UPSA Electoral Commissioner, administered the oath of office.
Delivering his inaugural address, the new President of UTAG-UPSA, Dr Mohammed Sadat, expressed gratitude to members of the association for the confidence and trust reposed in the executives while pledging to maintain the high standards set by his predecessors.
He used the platform to call for unity and solidarity within the union while expressing his commitment to transparency and teamwork.
“I look forward to closely collaborating with any UTAG member to enhance our welfare,” Dr Sadat said.
“To the other candidates who did not secure victory, be assured that our collective efforts will be channeled into improving the working conditions of all UTAG members.
“Let us unite in our efforts to elevate the quality of life for UTAG members. In the upcoming days, I urge all of us to stay committed and firm in our pursuit to enhance the well-being of UTAG members.”
Dr Sadat promised to reintroduce invigilation with a decent allowance for members, engage the management of the University for enhanced medical services, and institutionalise an annual fun games event for members and their families.
The handover ceremony was attended by members of the association, stakeholders, and distinguished guests.
