The Faculty of Accounting and Finance (FAF) at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has commenced the development of a strategic policy document under the leadership of the newly-appointed Dean, Prof Isaac Boadi.

The initiative will be spearheaded by an eight-member committee tasked with overseeing the drafting process to guide the implementation of key programmes within the faculty over the next three years.

Members of the committee include Dr. Eric Boakye Yiadom, Dr. Joseph Quarshie, Dr. John Amo, and Mr. Kwame Fosu-Boateng.

The rest are Mrs. Deborah Adu-Twumwaah, Dr. Richard Agbanyo, and Dr. Philomena Dadzie.

Inaugurating the committee on Tuesday, May 23, Prof Boadi expressed the university’s vision for transformation.

“In pursuing its transformation agenda, the University envisions that, by 2031, it will become a preeminent higher education provider in both academic and professional disciplines, nationally entrenched, regionally relevant, and globally recognized,” he said.

He emphasised that the strategic policy document of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance will serve as the guiding plan for implementing the faculty’s five key programmes within the next 36 months in line with the UPSA 2022–2031 Strategic Plan.

It is also part of a transformative exercise aimed at revitalizing the Faculty of Accounting and Finance (FAF) and positioning it as an academic centre of excellence, emphasizing its overall effectiveness, quality teaching and learning, and impact.

The strategic policy document will encompass five key areas of focus for the FAF. These areas include the implementation of a feedback, monitoring, and quality control system; the establishment of a policy think tank to address local and international issues; and the creation of a Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within the faculty.

Other areas of focus include fundraising for the FAF Bus project and the introduction of the “So Wonua Nsa” initiative, a welfare and research support scheme designed to assist faculty members.
