Lorraine Gyan assumes office as Registrar of UPSA

The Governing Council of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has appointed Mrs. Lorraine Buerkie Gyan as the new Registrar of the University.

Mrs Gyan’s appointment took effect on April 2, 2024. She is the first alumna and second woman to occupy the position.

She takes over from Dr. Koryoe Anim-Wright, who retired after more than 25 years of service in higher education.

Until her appointment, Mrs Gyan was the Director of Administration and Coordinator of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

Mrs Gyan is a seasoned Human Resources professional and an educational administrator with more than fifteen years’ experience in higher education management and public administration.

She joined UPSA in 2007 as an Assistant Registrar at the Human Resources Department. She swiftly rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities such as Senior Assistant Registrar at the School of Graduate Studies, Deputy Director of Human Resources (HR), Deputy Director of Administration, and Deputy Registrar.

Prior to joining UPSA, Mrs Gyan worked with Toyota Ghana Limited between 1996 and 2001, serving as Marketing and Customer Relations Officer, Credit Control Officer, and Sales Administrator.

She holds an MBA in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Management, both from the University of Ghana.

She also has a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the erstwhile Institute of Professional Studies (now UPSA).

Mrs Gyan is a distinguished member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (MCIMG), the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM), and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
