Department of Business Administration organises breakfast meeting for faculty members to kickstart new semester

The Department of Business Administration of the University of Professional Studies, Accra, has organised a breakfast meeting for its faculty members to usher in the new semester.

The event, held at the LBC Auditorium, brought together members of the department and provided an opportunity for members to interact in a relaxed social atmosphere while exploring academic and research collaboration opportunities.

Various speakers, including deans, vice deans, and leading faculty members, took turns addressing the gathering to encourage them to embrace the challenges of their respective roles and navigate their way to the top.

Head of the Department, Dr Ummu Markwei, in her welcome address, encouraged members to fraternise among themselves and acquaint themselves with the operations of the department.

She observed that many faculty members, particularly new ones, appear detached as if they don’t belong, hence the need to organise the event to unite the members of the department in order to enhance their efficiency.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, lauded the effort of the department in bringing together faculty members and to promote academic collaborations.

He urged them to forge ahead in unity and strive to make the University the best in the country.

For her part, Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Professor Fidelis Quansah, charged the faculty members to endeavour to meet the deadlines on their assignments in order to ensure smooth operations at the faculty level.

Prof Quansah advised members to work hard to meet the criteria for promotion, stressing the need to increase their academic publications.

A senior medical officer at the UPSA Medical Centre, Dr. Worlanyo Seneadza, facilitated a discussion on mental health, taking members through how to deal with stress and burnout.

He also sensitised them on strategies and practical steps to mitigating and coping with stress, as a way of improving overall well-being.

Professor Abigail Opoku Mensah, Director of the Center for International Education and Collaboration and Prof. Emmanuel Asamoah, Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies (FITCS), spoke on upcoming research seminars and the need for research collaborations among faculty. They urged members not to shy away from collaborating with each other but to seek to work with those who were already ahead of them and mentor new ones.
