10TH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BUSINESS MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT (ICBMED 2025)
Call for Abstracts
The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) invites submissions for the 10th edition of its annual International Conference on Business Management and Entrepreneurial Development (ICBMED) 2025 on the theme “Decade of Progress: Bridging Academia and Industry for Business Resilience in Emerging Economies,“
BACKGROUND
In the evolving landscape of emerging economies, synergy between academia and industry is a vital imperative for fostering resilience. Industry-academia partnerships are fulcrum for the integration of research expertise and the strategic intents and focus of businesses. These alliances bring academic theories to life, demonstrating their practicality, and offering industries access to uniquely applicable intellectual resources. Additionally, these collaborations are pivotal in addressing the challenges of globalisation and its impact on our local developmental needs, setting the stage for a future of inclusive prosperity.
In recent years, emerging economies like Ghana have made significant strides in making academic research more relevant to industry. It is noteworthy that recent industry-academia partnerships have fostered the use of research-driven solutions in addressing local challenges, ranging from the adoption of technology in enhancing the service processes of major public institutions as well as building workforce capacity.
The transition to knowledge-driven economies necessitates increased investments in education, research, and skills development, ensuring the workforce is equipped for a constantly-evolving business environment. Digital transformation, while a significant enabler, must be tampered by ethical practices, equitable access, and robust
governance to ensure trust and inclusivity. Industry leaders and academic institutions must collaboratively address socioeconomic disparities, promote environmental stewardship, and cultivate a culture of innovation.
This momentum requires a holistic approach that integrates ethical leadership, environmental consciousness, and a commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. Robust frameworks for governance and innovation are essential to ensure businesses are resilient to radical systemic changes, responsive to market demands, and proactive in shaping a sustainable future.
The ICBMED 2025 conference, themed “Decade of Progress: Bridging Academia and Industry for Business Resilience in Emerging Economies,” offers a rich platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange. Researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and educators will convene to examine the critical points of intersection between academia and industry, share success stories, and explore innovative strategies for fostering resilient and inclusive economies.
Participants are encouraged to submit abstracts that align with the theme and sub-themes, promoting insightful discussions and actionable outcomes. The conference aims to propel the growth and sustainability of businesses in emerging economies by forging partnerships that draw on insights from diverse perspectives.
