The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has launched 12 new industry-integrated academic programmes to strengthen market-relevant education and respond to emerging national development priorities. The launch, held on Thursday, 30 April 2026, at UPSA’s Professional Christian Union Auditorium, brought together academic leaders, industry stakeholders and representatives of government.
The new programmes cover law, management, finance, technology, agriculture, energy, natural resources and communication, reflecting UPSA’s commitment to producing graduates equipped for a rapidly changing economy.
In his welcome address, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, said the programmes were developed within UPSA’s broader vision of delivering education anchored in data, innovation and organisational impact. He noted that the University remained focused on producing graduates who can make informed decisions, support organisational growth and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Delivering the keynote address, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, said the introduction of the programmes affirmed UPSA’s determination to remain responsive to industry needs and national priorities. He noted that the programmes were developed through rigorous consultation and global benchmarking to prepare graduates for employment, enterprise creation and meaningful contribution to society.
Remarks were also delivered by the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies, Dr Abraham Ernest Mensah; the Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Professor Isaac Boadi; the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies, Professor Godfred Akrofi; and Mr Albert Quashigah, Head of the Public Law Department, UPSA Law School, who underscored the relevance of the new programmes in strengthening industry-responsive training across management, finance, technology, law, natural resources and climate change fields.
Dr Peter Boamah Otokunor, Director of Presidential Initiatives in Agriculture and Agribusiness at the Office of the President, commended UPSA for advancing industry-responsive education. He underscored the central role of agriculture in economic development and pledged institutional support towards the implementation of the agribusiness programme through resource provision and research collaboration.

Goodwill messages were also delivered by Mrs Florence Hutchful, President of the National Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, and Mr Tchitchi Ayiga, Head of the Foreign Languages Secretariat at the Ministry of Education, who welcomed the introduction of programmes that connect academic training with professional and national development needs.
The newly launched programmes are LLM Competition and Consumer Protection Law, LLM International Business and Commercial Law, LLM Natural Resources and Climate Change Law, MBA Leadership and Strategy, MBA Human Resource Management, MBA Business Management, MSc Energy Economics and Finance, MBA Asset and Wealth Management, MA Natural Resources and Climate Change Law, BSc Data Science and Analytics, BSc Agribusiness and Finance, and BA Applied French and Communication.
The launch reinforces UPSA’s position as a leading professional university committed to innovative, interdisciplinary and industry-aligned education. It also affirms the University’s mission of developing graduates with the practical skills, analytical capacity and professional grounding required to contribute to national and global development.
