The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Tuesday, 28 April 2026, held its annual University Day of Prayer, bringing together members of the University community for a time of reflection, thanksgiving and renewed commitment to the institution’s future.
The event, organised by the UPSA Chaplaincy, was attended by Management, faculty, staff and students. It provided an opportunity for the University community to reflect on the institution’s progress, express gratitude for its continued growth, and reaffirm a shared sense of purpose in advancing UPSA’s mandate.
In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, expressed appreciation to the guest speaker, Prophet Christopher Yaw Annor, for his longstanding association with the University and his consistent participation in the annual programme over the past nine years.
Prof. Mawutor described Prophet Annor as a valued friend of the University whose presence at the Day of Prayer had become a familiar and meaningful part of the event. He noted that UPSA’s continued growth and rising student numbers called for both gratitude and a deep sense of institutional responsibility.

The Vice-Chancellor observed that the University’s expanding student population reflected growing confidence in UPSA’s academic brand, while also placing a responsibility on Management and staff to continue improving infrastructure, services and the overall student experience.
Delivering the main reflection, Prophet Annor spoke on the importance of prayer, resilience and faith in moments of difficulty, drawing from James 5:13–15. He encouraged members of the University community to remain steadfast, hopeful and united in the pursuit of their individual and collective aspirations.
He further expressed his affection for UPSA, describing the University as a place with which he shares a strong personal connection. He offered prayers for continued guidance, protection and progress for the institution, its leadership, staff and students.
The annual University Day of Prayer remains an important event on the UPSA calendar, fostering reflection, community bonding and a renewed commitment to the values and aspirations that continue to shape the University’s growth.
