Traditional leaders from the Nungua traditional area have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, in recognition of his leadership and commitment to expanding access to education.
The visit took place on Wednesday, 25 March 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office.
The delegation, drawn from the Nii Odaiteitse We Family, was led by Nii Otu Kwei II, Akutsotse and Nungua Adonten/Abekunane Mantse.
The visit highlighted the growing relationship between UPSA and the Nungua traditional area, built on a shared interest in educational advancement and youth empowerment.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the chiefs commended Prof. Mawutor for his visionary leadership and for supporting scholarship opportunities that have positively impacted beneficiaries from Nungua and the wider Ga community in the Greater Accra Region.

“We remain deeply grateful for your support and commitment to education, especially the scholarship opportunities extended to members of our family and community,” Nii Otu Kwei II said. “We also appreciate your distinguished leadership and your contribution to educational advancement.”
Beyond expressing their appreciation, the chiefs formally invited the Vice-Chancellor to the upcoming Education and Youth Empowerment Forum scheduled for 26 April 2026.
The forum is intended to inspire the youth of Nungua and encourage members of the Nii Odaiteitse We Family, as well as the wider community, to pursue academic excellence and personal development.
As part of the event, the family is expected to present a citation to Prof. Mawutor in recognition of his outstanding contribution to education and his continued support for the empowerment of young people within the traditional area.
The visit also provided an opportunity to reaffirm the value of collaboration between traditional authorities and higher education institutions in promoting sustainable community development through education.
Members of the delegation included Hon. Richard Odai Nmai, Nii Odaiteitse We Seitse; Nii Gonten Teiko Tsuru III, Akornokum Divisional Chief; Nii Afotey Gbetse VI, Asoprotsonaa Divisional Chief; and Mr Moses Aryee Charway, General Secretary.
The University of Professional Studies, Accra, continues to strengthen its community engagement agenda through initiatives that broaden access to quality education and support the development of future leaders.
