UPSA expands its entrepreneurship agenda through a new strategic partnership

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has entered a strategic partnership with Prophet Nana Yaw Obeng Ministries to host a five-day Entrepreneurship Conference aimed at strengthening students’ practical business skills, innovation capacity, and ethical leadership.

The partnership was formalised with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, 12 February 2026, at UPSA.

The collaboration is expected to support students in developing, refining, and pitching viable business ideas, while providing structured mentorship and relevant technical guidance to help translate promising concepts into sustainable ventures.

Speaking at the MoU signing, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, reaffirmed UPSA’s strategic direction as a professional university that intentionally prepares graduates for leadership in industry, public service, and entrepreneurship.

He explained that the conference aligns with the University’s vision of producing graduates who are innovative, value-driven, and capable of creating opportunities, rather than waiting for them.

According to Prof. Mawutor, UPSA’s entrepreneurship agenda is driven by a clear institutional commitment: shaping students to become solution-oriented graduates who can respond to real societal and market needs with enterprise, creativity, and integrity.

He noted that the partnership will contribute to the University’s efforts to build a strong culture of initiative and self-reliance among young people, consistent with UPSA’s broader mission of developing ethical and entrepreneurial leaders.

Representing the partner organisation, Prophet Nana Yaw Obeng commended UPSA for its growing reputation in training future-ready leaders and welcomed the opportunity to contribute to student development through entrepreneurship-focused learning.

He noted that the conference will offer hands-on guidance to help students develop business concepts that can grow into viable enterprises.

Under the MoU, UPSA and Prophet Nana Yaw Obeng Ministries will collaborate on seminars, workshops, and masterclasses focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, leadership, and business management, with additional support, where feasible, towards the development of promising student-led initiatives.

The five-day Entrepreneurship Conference is scheduled to take place from 3 to 7 March 2026 at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu Auditorium, UPSA.
