UPSA, Ghana Gas explore strategic partnership

The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has initiated strategic discussions with the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) aimed at fostering collaboration in capacity building, research, and knowledge transfer.

The first engagement, which took place on Thursday, May 8, brought a high-level delegation from Ghana Gas to UPSA.

The team was led by Sophia Kwakye Marfo, Assistant Manager at the Government Relations Department. She was accompanied by Assistant Managers Benjamin Kwaku Abusuayedom Asare and Harrison Seth Kwablah Ayim, as well as Senior Officers Prince Afrifa Appiagyei and Beatrice Benedicta Quaye.

Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Emmanuel Selase Asamoah, UPSA’s Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, expressed the university’s strong interest in developing a mutually beneficial industry-academia relationship.

“We are looking forward to industry-academia partnerships for mutual benefit,” said Prof Asamoah. “This is in line with our efforts to integrate local business experiences into academic discourse, including plans to publish faculty-authored books featuring case studies from the Ghanaian corporate sector.”

The Registrar of UPSA, Mrs Lorraine Gyan, highlighted the university’s capacity to offer tailor-made training programmes to meet the specific needs of corporate institutions, affirming the university’s readiness to partner with Ghana Gas.

On behalf of Ghana Gas, Ms. Sophia Kwakye Marfo lauded UPSA for the initiative and assured that the proposal would be thoroughly reviewed by the company’s management.

She expressed optimism about the prospects of a fruitful collaboration.

Present at the meeting were Prof Samuel Antwi, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer and Mrs Aba Lokko, Director of Public Affairs.

Further engagements between UPSA and Ghana Gas are expected in the coming weeks to finalise the framework for cooperation.
