A delegation of Assembly Members from the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, to discuss potential areas of collaboration.
The meeting, which was held at the invitation of the new vice-chancellor, focused on strengthening the partnership between the university and the community within which it operates.
Key discussions centred on creating opportunities to empower community members, including the allocation of admission concessions and scholarship opportunities for deserving local students.
The meeting also explored ways the university and the Assembly Members could work together to address community development challenges.
Prof Mawutor expressed UPSA’s commitment to working together with community leaders to implement programs that will foster educational and social development within the municipality.
“As a university, we are committed to serving our community as part of our broader mission,” Prof Mawutor said. “This collaboration therefore aligns with our community service goals, and we look forward to working together to build a mutually beneficial relationship that will create lasting positive impacts on the lives of people in this community.”
Spokesperson for the delegation and Assembly Member for the Madina Social Welfare South Electoral Area, Asare Michael McDonald, commended the Vice-Chancellor for the invitation, describing it as innovative and forward-thinking.
He lauded the university’s commitment to collaborating with local leaders to drive development and enhance educational opportunities for residents.
Assembly Members at the meeting included Mr. John Okpoti Mensah (Oyarifa), Mr. Halid Wahab (Adentan West), Mr. Daniel K. Owusu (Teiman), and Mr. Ibrahim Abdul-Razak (Madina West).
The rest were Mr. Joseph Kodzo Ahianyor (Social Welfare North) and Mr. Hanson Maytey-Gizo (Madina Tatanaa North).
