The Teachers and Educational Workers Union (TEWU) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) emerged victorious at the 2024 Vice-Chancellor’s Fun Games held on Tuesday.
They beat the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA-UPSA) by a 1-0 in a thrilling finale to clinch the coveted men’s football trophy.
The fun games form part of a series of activities to celebrate the achievements and legacy of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abednego Okoe Amartey, whose tenure ends next month.
The event featured a variety of competitions, bringing together teams from across the University community in a fun-filled atmosphere as spectators sang and danced to cheer their favourite teams.
Alongside football, participants competed in volleyball, tennis, ping-pong, sack races, 50-meter dashes, and a mix of indoor games, including Ludo, card games, oware, and draft.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abednego Okoe Amartey, expressed his gratitude to faculty, staff, and students for their enthusiastic participation.
He congratulated TEWU, representing the junior staff of the university, on their hard-won victory.
The event brought together teams from key university associations, including UTAG, FUSSAG, SRC, TEWU, GAUA, and GRASAG, in a spirited display of community and camaraderie.
The fun games were graced by former Ghanaian international footballer, John Paintsil, who commended all participating teams for their effort.
