Vice-Chancellor donates to La Presby Senior High School, pledges new library

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of the Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey has presented 350 mathematical sets and three computers to the La Presbyterian Senior High School in Accra.

The donation, which forms part of UPSA’s initiative to foster academic excellence and support for education, was intended to boost the preparations of final year students for the West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Prof Amartey, who is an alumnus of the school, emphasised the importance of providing students with essential resources for their studies, especially in mathematics and technology, stressing that they are critical fields in today’s educational landscape.

He also pledged to build a new library for the school.

“A library,” Prof. Amartey said, “will enhance the school’s academic resources, providing students with a conducive environment for learning and access to a wide range of educational materials.”

He encouraged the students to maximise the use of the mathematical sets and consistently strive for success.

The Headmistress of La Presby Senior High School expressed gratitude for the generous donation and the promise of a library.

She added that the support will not only go a long way in motivating the final year students but will also improve their academic performance.

Accompanying the vice chancellor to make the donation were Prof Koryoe Anim-Wright, Associate Professor with the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies and Mr. Freeman Kwade, Junior Assistant Registrar at the Media Unit.
