Zenith Bank Ghana has presented a cheque for GHS500,000 to the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) in support of the University’s Annual Leadership Lecture.
This year’s lecture, themed “The Geopolitics and Geo-economics of De-dollarisation: BRICS+ Currency Strategy, Lessons for Africa’s Common Currency and Beyond”, will be delivered by H.E. Jacob Zuma, former President of the Republic of South Africa.
The lecture, to be held on August 19th at the Kofi Ohene Konadu Auditorium, is expected to attract leaders from academia, diplomacy, finance, and the broader policy community.

UPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor who received the cheque on behalf of the University at a brief ceremony on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, expressed profound gratitude to Zenith Bank for its generous contribution.
“In less than a year, you have graciously supported two of our flagship initiatives,” Prof. Mawutor noted. “We are truly appreciative and look forward to deepening this fledgling relationship. Zenith Bank has demonstrated true partnership and commitment to education.”

Speaking on behalf of the Bank, Mr. Raymond Azungah, Group Head of Marketing, said the gesture reaffirms Zenith Bank’s dedication to supporting education and leadership development in Ghana.
“This is just the beginning of bigger things to come,” he stated, adding that the bank remains committed to nurturing strategic partnerships that foster national development.
The Annual Leadership Lecture remains one of UPSA’s flagship events, aimed at promoting thought leadership and policy dialogue on critical national and global issues.

Past speakers include H.E. John Agyekum Kufour, former President of Ghana; Lord Paul Boateng, Member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom; Cardinal Peter Appiah Turkson, Chancellor of the Pontifical Academies of Sciences; Kwami Pianim, renowned economist; and Dr Mohamed Ibn Chambas, former Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General to West Africa and the Sahel.
