As part of his ongoing strategic engagements with Corporate Ghana, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof John Mawutor, has paid a courtesy visit to AT Ghana on Thursday, February 20.
The UPSA delegation was warmly welcomed by AT Ghana’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Leo Skarlatos.
The visit formed part of the vice-chancellor’s broader initiative to strengthen relationships with key industry players while promoting his vision for the university.
Discussions between UPSA and AT Ghana focused on exploring potential collaborations for mutual benefit, particularly in the areas of staff capacity building, industry-academic partnerships and knowledge sharing.
A significant topic of discussion was the Vice-Chancellor’s faculty-authored book initiative, which aims to develop and publish locally authored course textbooks tailored to UPSA’s academic programs.
Prof Mawutor explained that these textbooks would incorporate local business case studies to enrich teaching and learning.
In response, Mr. Skarlatos commended the initiative and highlighted AT Ghana’s wealth of business experiences that could serve as valuable case studies for students.
“We have a lot of case studies that can benefit your students when included in your book publications,” Mr Skarlatos noted.
He further emphasised AT Ghana’s unique corporate journey, particularly how the company successfully emerged from bankruptcy, as an insightful business case for academia.
Another key discussion point was the potential for UPSA to support AT Ghana in building the capacity of its staff through tailored training programs delivered by UPSA.
Both parties expressed a strong interest in leveraging their strengths to create opportunities that bridge academia and industry.
Present at the meeting from AT Ghana were Mr. Eric Adadevoh, Chief Human Resources Officer; Ms. Ethel Anamoo, Chief Business Officer; and Mr. Emmanuel Kwabena Owusu, Chief Technical Officer, Networks.
The UPSA delegation included Mrs. Lorraine Gyan, Registrar, and Prof. Samuel Antwi, Pro Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer.
