The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Prof. Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, on Thursday, August 21, 2025, met with the newly elected leadership of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) to congratulate them on their assumption of office.
He also used the occasion to outline key areas of collaboration between management and the student body.
Welcoming the student leaders, Prof. Mawutor commended them for their election victory and urged them to uphold the values of truthfulness, transparency, and trustworthiness as they serve the student community.
He emphasised that leadership is a call to service and encouraged the SRC to always place the welfare of students at the centre of their work.

During the meeting, discussions focused on pressing student needs, including the extension of library working hours during examination periods and allowing students to study in the evenings in the LBC lecture halls.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the executives of management’s commitment to equipping the UPSA Clinic with additional medical supplies to enhance healthcare delivery for students.
On revenue generation, Prof. Mawutor encouraged the SRC to explore innovative business ventures that can provide sustainable income beyond the annual SRC dues.

Touching on discipline, he stressed that “the University’s dress code policy will be strictly enforced in the next academic year,” urging the SRC to sensitise students to ensure compliance.
The Vice-Chancellor further informed the student leaders about the soon-to-be-established laptop assembling plant on campus.
He explained that the project is designed to provide IT students with hands-on practical training while supporting the University’s flagship “One Student, One Laptop” initiative, ensuring that every student has a personal laptop.
The SRC President, Prince Stephen Bentil thanked the Vice-Chancellor for the engagement and pledged the commitment of his administration to work closely with management in addressing student concerns while upholding the values of accountability and service.
