Vice-Chancellor lauds lecturers for their continuous contribution to success of UPSA

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego F. O. Amartey has commended lecturers and faculty staff of the University for their dedication to duty, service and unflinching support to the Management of the University.

He said the success chalked by the University over the few years and his recent recognition as the Educational CEO of the Year at the 2022 Ghana CEO Awards can be attributed to the hard work of faculty members.

In dedicating his recent award to the faculty of UPSA, the VC singled out the various Heads of Departments, whom he described as the unsung heroes, for their invaluable contributions and praised them for their diligence.

“Your commitment to duty is highly commendable and appreciated. When we had the lockdown [during the Covid-19 pandemic], we still ran our programmes because faculty was at work,” Prof Amartey said.

“So obviously when they say UPSA is doing something right, it is because our faculty never stops working behind the scenes.”

The Vice-Chancellor made these remarks when he hosted lecturers and other senior faculty members of the University to a cocktail reception on Monday, May 9, to celebrate his recent award as the Educational CEO of the Year as well as to show his appreciation to Community members for their diverse contributions.

The occasion also provided a rare opportunity for the Vice-Chancellor to interact with faculty members in relaxed social atmosphere.

Prof Okoe Amartey said the leadership of the University is committed to putting UPSA on a pedestal of academic excellence. He added that Management places a premium on the needs of faculty since they play an essential role in higher education management.

Prof Amartey disclosed that Management has approved the allocation of funds for lecturers’ proposed data allowance. This, he said, was to facilitate online teaching and learning which he says has come to stay.

He further urged faculty members to take advantage of the revised research publication allowance to work on more publications.

“Be assured that the leadership of the University have your interest at heart and whatever we do is in your best interest,” he said. “We appreciate all what you have been doing and this occasion presents the perfect opportunity to thank you all.”
