UPSA@60 Anniversary Planning Committee Engages the Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana (CITG) Ahead of IPS Re-Launch and Other Planned Celebrations

The UPSA@60 Anniversary Planning Committee on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana (CITG) as part of ongoing stakeholder engagements for the University’s 60th anniversary celebrations.

The visit formed part of a broader effort by the University to engage professional bodies and key institutional partners to strengthen collaboration and secure support for activities marking the diamond jubilee.

The UPSA delegation, led by Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Kwabena Agyekum, was received by the President of CITG, Mrs. Ernestina Christina Appiah, and the Registrar, Mr. Albert Eben Adjei.

Mr. Agyekum explained that the purpose of the meeting was to formally brief CITG on the University’s anniversary programmes and explore areas for strategic partnership between the two institutions.

He noted that UPSA’s longstanding relationship with professional bodies remains central to its mandate of providing practice-oriented education and professional training.

A key highlight of the discussions was the planned relaunch of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) as a department within UPSA, scheduled for March 17, 2026.

The initiative is expected to reaffirm the University’s historic roots in professional education while strengthening its collaboration with professional institutions.

Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Francis Dadzie, provided further details on planned anniversary activities.

He indicated that the celebrations would include high-level stakeholder engagements, including a proposed business meeting with the Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and selected business leaders, as well as a series of academic and professional events designed to highlight UPSA’s contributions to national development.

Mr. Dadzie emphasised that the engagement with CITG formed part of a broader consultation process aimed at informing key partners about the anniversary programme and inviting their active participation in the celebrations.

CITG President, Mrs. Ernestina Christina Appiah, an alumna of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to supporting the anniversary activities.

She described the engagement as an honour and noted that CITG values its long-standing relationship with UPSA, particularly in the training and development of taxation professionals in Ghana.

Other members of the UPSA delegation included Chair of the Fundraising Committee, Dr. Mrs. Akushika Andoh; Deputy Director of Administration and Secretary to the UPSA@60 Planning Committee, Dr. Leticia Akyeampong; and Director of the Institute of Professional Studies, Prof. Fidelis Quansah.

The Committee also presented CITG with the 60th Anniversary plan document and commemorative souvenirs, including branded anniversary T-shirts.
