The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has intensified stakeholder consultations for its 60th anniversary celebrations with a courtesy call on Wednesday, 25 February 2026, by the UPSA@60 Anniversary Planning Committee on the Ghana office of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), aimed at deepening institutional collaboration and securing support for key anniversary activities.
Chairman of the UPSA@60 Anniversary Planning Committee, Mr. Kwabena Agyekum, explained that the visit was to formally brief CIMA on the University’s diamond jubilee celebrations, which were launched last year, and to invite the Institute to participate in major upcoming events.
He noted that one of the key activities would be the relaunch of the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), which represents an important milestone in reconnecting the University to its historic roots in professional education.

Mr. Agyekum also highlighted a planned high-level engagement involving the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and captains of industry. The special business conclave is expected to bring together leading figures from the business community as part of the anniversary programme in May this year.
Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Francis Dadzie, underscored the longstanding relationship between UPSA and CIMA, noting that many members of the Institute received their professional training at the former Institute of Professional Studies.
He emphasised that the historical ties between the two institutions made it especially important for CIMA to be represented at the relaunch of IPS, describing the event as a significant moment in the University’s institutional history.

Welcoming the delegation, CIMA Country Director, Mr. Paul Aninakwah, expressed appreciation for the engagement and assured the delegation of the Institute’s readiness to support the University’s anniversary activities, particularly the upcoming relaunch of IPS and related stakeholder engagements.
He commended the Institute of Professional Studies for its pioneering contribution to professional education in Ghana and described it as a pacesetter in the training of accounting and management professionals.

Members of the UPSA delegation included Chair of the Fundraising Committee, Dr. Mrs. Akushika Andoh; Deputy Director of Administration and Secretary to the UPSA@60 Planning Committee, Dr. Leticia Akyeampong; and Director of the Institute of Professional Studies, Prof. Fidelis Quansah.
