The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Professor John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has urged graduates to uphold integrity and accountability while pursuing continuous learning to remain relevant in a changing professional environment. He made the call on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, at the third session of the University’s 18th Congregation, which saw 1,314 students graduate from the Faculty of Management Studies.
The cohort comprised 1,009 undergraduate degree recipients and 305 diploma recipients. They form part of the 5,120 students expected to graduate across the University’s 18th Congregation sessions.

Addressing the graduating class, Professor Mawutor stressed the importance of ethical conduct in professional life.
“Let integrity and accountability guide you as you step into the next chapter of your lives,” he said.
He encouraged the graduates to harness emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), responsibly while exercising independent judgement. As technology reshapes professional practice, he urged them to remain curious, adaptable and committed to developing their knowledge and skills.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that success depended on both the knowledge graduates possessed and their ability to apply it effectively. He challenged them to build professional reputations grounded in competence, integrity and service.
“Let competence earn you respect. Let integrity sustain it. Let service give your work meaning,” he said.
Congratulating the graduates on their achievement, Professor Mawutor encouraged them to translate their education into practical contributions to their workplaces, communities and society.

The Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, Dr Harry Lawson Kwaku Agbanu, also urged the graduates to recognise the responsibilities that accompany their qualifications. He encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills to improve their lives and contribute to the development of the wider society.
Delivering the Congregation Address, the Managing Director of Appointed Time Printing, Mrs Jacqueline Afful, encouraged the graduates to combine ambition with discipline, determination and purposeful action.

She stressed that aspiration alone could not secure success without clear direction and consistent effort. She urged the graduates to distinguish themselves through their willingness to take initiative and go beyond what was expected of them.
Mrs Afful further emphasised the importance of character in sustaining professional achievement, encouraging the graduates to allow sound personal values and responsible conduct to guide their decisions throughout their careers.
