UPSA Undergrads Defend Dissertations

Final year undergraduate students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have started defending their dissertations. Dressed in their smartest suits nearly 3,500 students will stand before a panel of faculty from UPSA and external institutions to defend their thesis as part of their graduation requirements.

Students from all programmes formed groups and selected research topics and worked diligently all school year to prepare for their final dissertation this week.

Unlike most universities where dissertations are not defended at the undergraduate level except for Master Degree students and above, UPSA requires undergraduates to write and defend their thesis before they graduate. As a premier business and professional university, it is important to prepare students for their future careers and introduce them to experiences that they will have in the business world.

Dissertations are a great opportunity for students to fine-tune their skills presenting, information sharing, team collaboration, receiving constructive criticism, and persuading an audience to adopt their ideas and recommendations.
