UPSA students win 2023 MTN Pulse Business Challenge

Students of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have for the second consecutive year won the 2023 MTN Pulse Business Challenge by sweeping all awards in this year’s contest.

UPSA duo, Ruby Ampofo and Lenwood Kwaku Nuongtah, both second-year students, emerged winners of the four-month-long contest, which came to an end on Thursday, November 30, 2023.

For their prize, they took home a cash prize of GH¢10,000 and souvenirs from sponsors.

The first runners-up, Joseph Laryea Tetteh and Emmanuel Amanquandoh took home a cash prize of GH¢3,000 with souvenirs from sponsors, while the second runners-up, Clement Acheampong and Emmanuel Odenkey Abbey also took home a cash prize of GH¢2,000 with souvenirs from sponsors.

The three UPSA student groups strike a winning pose as they clinch first, second, and third place at the 2023 MTN Pulse Business Challenge.

The outstanding feat by the students entrenches UPSA’s dominance in the competition, positioning it as a centre of academic excellence and the most successful university, having won the contest for the sixth time since its introduction in 2016.

The Business Challenge is an annual competition organised by HR Focus magazine for tertiary students in Ghana to build their business knowledge and acumen.

A UPSA student, Michael Ackon, won the competition last year.

The contest, spanning a period of four (4) months, saw over 30 students from various tertiary institutions in Ghana pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges.

The Challenge provided a great platform for the students to learn business strategy and gain expert knowledge on sales, finance, marketing and advertising. There were also mentorship opportunities with some renowned resource persons in the world of work.
