UPSA Students Receive Support From Barclays Bank

A total of 15 brilliant, but needy undergraduate students from the University have been awarded scholarships by Barclays Bank Ghana as part of its Shared Growth Ambition programme. The packages attached to the scholarship include full payment of school fees, household income, laptop and food subsidy.

The package, which is renewable every academic year, also covers stationery, hostel and academic user fees.

The purpose of the scholarship is to support the students as well as encourage them in their studies.

Mr. Cyril Nai, Head of Marketing and Communication Department, who spoke on other benefits the students would derive from the scholarship said, “the good thing about this scholarship is that we are not just throwing our money to back your education, but we are interested in seeing you develop, so we will also offer you some internship opportunities as well as mentors to help shape your lives.”

Professor Okoe Amartey, Vice-Chancellor of the University expressed his profound appreciation on behalf of the students to Barclays Bank for their support and called for a longstanding relationship between the University and the Barclays Bank to enable more students benefit from similar scholarship opportunities. He further urged the students to use their new laptops for purposes of academic work only. Present at the programme were some members of the University Management and officers of Barclays Bank.
