UPSA Student Wins Prestigious National Achievers Award

Mr. Sylvanus Bedzrah, a Level 400 student of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) offering BA. Public Relations Management has won the  prestigious national achievers award. The award, dubbed “40 Under 40 Awards” which seeks to celebrate 40 Ghanaian Achievers under the age of 40 was held on Saturday 30th September, 2017 at the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City in Accra.

Sylvanus Bedzrah, a student Author, Publisher and CEO of Mini-Star Series Publications who was nominated in the categories of “Authorship & Creative Writing” and “Printing/Press & Publishing” alongside other accomplished young Ghanaians, won in the Category of “Printing/Press & Publishing.”

Sylvanus started writing creative fiction when he was fourteen years but published his first book whilst in the Senior High School. In 2010, he established the Mini-Star Series Publications after the publication of his third book. Sylvanus Bedzrah has since won six (6) National Awards, including the “Young Professional of the Year Award,” “Youth Impact Ghana Awards” and the “Student Writer of the Year Award.” One of his books, “THE BLOODY INGRATE” (Betrayal of Trust) has also been approved by the Ghana Education Service (GES) as a supplementary reader for schools.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Business Development, Hon. Ibrahim Awal Mohammed congratulated all the 121 nominees and advised the 40 winners not to feel relaxed with this award but rather work harder to achieve more. “As you celebrate the awards, it is just the beginning. Do not ever be content. Contentment is deceitful,” he admonished. He also called on young Ghanaians to be constantly innovative and not only look for opportunities, but also create the opportunities for others by taking advantage of the many available opportunities his government has created for the youth especially. He promised the continuous support of his government and Ministry in ensuring that Ghanaian businesses prosper.

The Forty under 40 Award is to identify, honour and celebrate a cross-section of the nation’s most influential and accomplished young business leaders under the age forty from a wide range of industries, who are committed to business growth, professional excellence and community service and have risen up the ranks of their companies or industries at a relatively young age.

The event is endorsed by the Ministry of Business Development, National Youth Authority and the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Plan. (NEIP)
