The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) sports team on Wednesday, 30 April 2026, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Kweku Mensah Mawutor, ahead of the 9th Mini Ghana University Sports Association Games (GUSA Games), scheduled to commence on 5 May 2026.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the team to formally brief University Management on their level of preparedness and to present key concerns relating to their participation in the upcoming national competition.
During the engagement, members of the team outlined a number of operational and logistical needs essential to their readiness for the Games. These concerns were duly received and addressed, reflecting Management’s commitment to ensuring that student-athletes are adequately supported to compete at the highest level.

In his remarks, Professor Mawutor commended the team for their dedication and discipline, noting that their participation in the GUSA Games represents an important opportunity to showcase the University’s values of excellence, resilience, and professionalism on a national stage. He emphasised that the University stands firmly behind the team and will put in place the necessary support structures to enhance their performance and competitiveness.
The Vice-Chancellor further encouraged the athletes to remain focused and united, highlighting the importance of teamwork, preparation, and mental resilience in achieving success. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to deliver a strong performance and make the University proud.
