The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Industrial Research (CSIR-IIR) have opened talks to strengthen collaboration in academic and infrastructure development.
This follows a courtesy visit by the Director of CSIR-IIR, Dr. Francis Boateng Agyenim, to the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, on Monday, October 27, where both leaders explored opportunities in research, teaching and student development.
The discussions also focused on finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enable practical industry-based learning for UPSA students at CSIR-IIR facilities, while CSIR-IIR experts, including over 20 PhD holders will offer part-time lecturing support at UPSA.

The partnership will also create pathways for CSIR-IIR staff to pursue PhD studies at UPSA to enhance their academic qualifications.
As part of the collaboration, the two institutions are pursuing a joint venture to construct a modern 6,000-bed student hostel on CSIR-IIR land to address accommodation challenges and generate sustainable revenue.
