The Office of Doctoral Programmes (ODP) of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has honoured its outgoing Director, Professor Raymond Dziwornu, for his distinguished leadership and dedicated service to the University. The brief ceremony was held on Thursday, 25 June 2026, at the School of Graduate Studies.

The ceremony brought together colleagues and staff of the Office to recognise his contributions to the advancement of doctoral education and institutional growth at UPSA.

Speaking at the event, the Coordinator of the Office of Doctoral Programmes, Dr Timothy Zilevu, commended Prof. Dziwornu for his commitment to the Office and to the wider University community. He said Prof. Dziwornu’s leadership had left a positive imprint on colleagues, students and the academic community through his mentorship, diligence and pursuit of excellence.

In a tribute, the Director of Quality Assurance, Professor Joseph Kwadwo Tuffour, recounted Prof. Dziwornu’s academic and professional journey, describing it as one marked by consistency, discipline and service.

He noted that Prof. Dziwornu began his association with UPSA as a National Service person in 2001 and had, over more than two decades, built an admirable career within the University.

Prof. Tuffour further observed that Prof. Dziwornu had served in several strategic leadership positions, including Director of the Office of Doctoral Programmes, Dean of the Faculty of Accounting and Finance, Head of the Department of Banking and Finance, and Programmes Coordinator at the School of Graduate Studies.

He highlighted key milestones recorded during Prof. Dziwornu’s tenure at the ODP, noting that the number of doctoral programmes at UPSA increased from two to ten. He also indicated that 39 doctoral students had graduated within the period, reflecting the steady consolidation of doctoral education at the University.

In his response, Prof. Dziwornu expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve, describing leadership as both a privilege and a responsibility. He said he was thankful for the confidence reposed in him by Management and colleagues over the years.

Prof. Dziwornu also expressed appreciation for the honour, describing the ceremony as deeply touching. He paid tribute to the staff of the Office of Doctoral Programmes for their teamwork, commitment and support, stressing that the achievements recorded were the result of collective effort.
