The high-powered delegation from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, has paid a courtesy call on the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, to express profound appreciation and share updates on recent developments at the University.
Prof. Mawutor, who is a devoted member of the Church of Pentecost, described the Chairman as a spiritual father to the university and himself, whose guidance and prayers have been invaluable throughout his leadership journey.
The visit, he noted, was to express gratitude for Apostle Nyamekye’s presence at his investiture ceremony and for his continued support.

“I’m happy to announce that all the legal issues that sought to challenge my appointment as Vice-Chancellor have been withdrawn,” Prof. Mawutor disclosed. “Additionally, the Governing Council has exonerated me of any wrongdoing after concluding its investigations into the various petitions filed against me.”
He added that these developments now allow him to fully concentrate on the University’s strategic goals.
The visit also served as an opportunity to officially invite Apostle Nyamekye to the 2025 UPSA Annual Leadership Lecture, which is expected to feature former South African President H.E. Jacob Zuma as the keynote speaker.

Looking ahead, Prof. Mawutor shared plans for the establishment of a new, specialised campus that will focus on training students in information technology and artificial intelligence.
“We are poised to launch a dedicated IT and AI campus in the coming days, aimed at equipping students with relevant digital skills to compete globally,” he announced.
Welcoming the UPSA delegation, Apostle Eric Nyamekye congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his recent vindication by the UPSA Governing Council, describing it as a divine breakthrough and a sign of greater things to come.

“I pray that the God who has redeemed you and brought you this far will continue to guide you. Stick with Him and allow Him to lead,” Apostle Nyamekye urged.
While commending UPSA’s vision of embracing digital transformation, Apostle Nyamekye also encouraged the university to introduce academic programmes in entrepreneurship, ethics, and national development.
He stressed that such initiatives will be instrumental in addressing the growing threat of corruption in society.

He further charged the Vice-Chancellor to sustain the momentum of progress by building on the legacy of his predecessors and steering UPSA to unprecedented levels of excellence.
