UPSA lecturer, Charles Ayiku honoured with prestigious National Award

Charles Nii Ayiku Ayiku, a lecturer at the Department of Communication Studies, UPSA, was adjudged the most Outstanding Communication/Media Education Personality at the 2021 National Communications Awards.

The award was in recognition of his invaluable contribution towards the training of media and communication personnel as well as facilitation of professional development programmes for industry practitioners.

Mr Nii Ayiku has been at the forefront of new media education and has lectured in many top universities in Ghana including the UPSA.

His academic specialisation spans across Public Relations, Web Communications, Public Administration, Management Information Systems, Electronic Learning, Web Technology, Online Journalism and Digital Marketing.

The prestigious National Communications Awards ceremony took place on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra under the theme ‘Transforming Ghana’s Economy through Digitalisation’.

It brought together players in the media and communications industry while recognizing their achievements over the year in review.

Mr Charles Ayiku’s Profile
Charles Nii Ayiku is a trained Digital Marketing and Business Process Management Specialist from the IBM Africa Academy as well as an accredited Public Relations Practitioner.

He is an Executive Council Member of the Institute of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana where he chairs the Research and New Media Committee as well as facilitate the Professional Accreditation examination of IPR, Ghana.

He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Ghana Journalists Association, the International Webmasters Association, USA, The Southern Africa Communication Association and the Chartered Institute of Journalists, UK.

Before joining the University of Professional Studies, Accra, he was a Civil Servant at the Communications Bureau of the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Deputy Head of Public Affairs at the Council of State and the Information Services Department of the Ministry of Information. He also worked at Global Media Alliance as the Web Communication Manager.
