The UPSA Law School is set to honour Nana Dr Samuel Kwadwo Boaten Asante, Paramount Chief of Asokore Asante in the Ashanti Region and one of Ghana’s most outstanding and consequential statesmen.
Nana SKB Asante, a renowned legal practitioner, will receive the UPSA Lifetime Achievement in Law Award at the 2024 Honorific Lecture and Awards for his outstanding and extensive contribution to the legal profession as well as his invaluable service to the nation.
The event is slated for Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu Auditorium, UPSA Campus, at 5:00 p.m. GMT.
It will be chaired by the Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkonoo, and promises to be a night of celebration of a legacy tucked in excellence.
Gracing the occasion will be the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“The programme also promises to incorporate all the pomp and circumstance of tradition and modernity, reflecting the bifocal life experience of the honoree, who is both a prominent chief and an elder statesman,” said Gertrude Armah, the Event Coordinator.
Throughout his lifetime, Dr Nana SKB Asante held several prominent positions, including serving as the Director of the United Nations Centre on Transnational Corporations.
He also served as Chairman of the Committee of Experts that drafted the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, among many other roles.
The venerable Prof. Justice Samuel Date-Bah, retired Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana and celebrated academic, won the maiden Honorific Award in 2023.
