The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Language Centre has organised a 12-week intensive English Proficiency Programme for a delegation of scholars from Nigeria.
The participants were drawn from the Afaaq Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to alleviating poverty and empowering vulnerable communities across Africa.
The training programme focused on contemporary English usage, public speaking and presentation, and academic writing.
It was delivered in two phases — six weeks of in-person tuition at the UPSA campus, followed by six weeks of online instruction.

The distinguished participants included Dr. Aminu Ismail Sagagi, Lecturer, Bayero University, Kano; Dr. Abdulmuddalib Ahmad Muhammad, Deputy Provost, Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies, Daura State; Dr. Jamilu Bello, Senior Lecturer, Bauchi State University; Mr. Suhaibu Yusuf Sambo, Alqalam University, Katsina State; and Dr. Murtala Musa, Managing Director, Attaqwa TV.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof. John Kwaku Mawutor, lauded the participants for choosing UPSA for their professional development.

He called for stronger partnerships between UPSA and their respective institutions to enhance collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Coordinator for the UPSA Language Centre, Dr. Mohammed Sadat, praised the participants for their commitment and punctuality throughout the programme.
He encouraged them to apply the knowledge they have acquired in their daily interactions, reminding them that language mastery extends beyond the classroom.

He also commended the lecturers for their dedication and sacrifice despite their demanding schedules.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Dr. Aminu Ismail Sagagi expressed deep appreciation to UPSA for the well-structured and impactful training while commending the facilitators for their dedication and professionalism.
