The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has inaugurated a committee to review its Fundamental Regulations, which were last updated over a decade ago.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, October 20, 2025, was presided over by the Chairman of the University’s Governing Council, Dr. Harry Kwaku Lawson, who officially inaugurated the Committee and charged its members to undertake a comprehensive and forward-looking review of the University’s statutes.
Dr. Lawson underscored the importance of the exercise, describing it as critical to strengthening governance structures and aligning the University’s regulatory framework with contemporary trends in higher education management.

“The review of our statutes and fundamental regulations is a necessary process to ensure that UPSA’s policies remain responsive to current realities and future aspirations,” Dr Lawson said. “I am confident that the members of this Committee are more than capable of doing a thorough and excellent job.”
The review is expected to address emerging issues in university administration, academic governance, and institutional autonomy, while ensuring that the revised regulations reflect best practices and support UPSA’s vision of becoming a world-class education provider.
The Fundamental Regulations Review Committee is chaired by Prof. Frank Sena Arku, a Government Nominee.

Other members of the Committee are Prof. Emmanuel Selasie Asamoah, Pro-Vice-Chancellor; Mr. Fortunate Brian Fio, Director of Legal Affairs and Academic Board Representative; Dr. Ampem Darko Aniapam, Senior Lecturer and Academic Board Representative; and Dr. Edwin T. Ayernor, Director of CIEC and Academic Board Representative.
The rest are Dr. Sadat Mohammed, Senior Lecturer; Prof. Augustine Ocloo, Deputy Director at GTEC; Dr. Agyenim Boateng, a retired university administrator; and Mrs Lorraine B. Gyan, Registrar of UPSA.
