The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has held Congregation ceremonies for students who successfully completed various programmes of study in the 2018/2019 academic year.
The Congregation ceremonies, held in four sessions, were presided over by the Chairman of the University Council, Dr Kofi Ohene-Konadu who acted in the absence of the Chancellor, HRH Drolor Bosso Adamtey I.
A total of 3,778 students comprising 657 postgraduate students, 2380 undergraduates and 741 diplomates graduated from the School of Graduate Studies and the faculties of Law; Management Studies; Accounting and Finance; and Information Technology and Communication Studies.
The first session held on July 1, 2019, saw 45 students graduating from the Faculty of Law and an additional 281 students been conferred with degrees and diplomas from the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Studies. The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, who was the special guest of honour at this session, admonished law graduands and legal practitioners to uphold the integrity of the profession and ensure that they respect the rule of law as they carry out their legal mandate.
The second session held on July 25, 2019, was dedicated to the Faculty of Accounting and Finance which had 1,360 students graduating, while a total of 1435 students also graduated from the Faculty of Management Studies in the third session held on July 26, 2019.
Another 657 students of the School of Graduate Studies took their turn at the fourth and final session held on Saturday, July 27, 2019.
Addressing graduands, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey urged them to “get ahead of change” by refusing to be complacent with the first degrees and diplomas they have obtained. He said the only way to get ahead of change is by constantly improving oneself.
