Four graduates of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) have been selected as part of 12 finalists for the 2022 Deloitte Ghana Graduate Academy.
The four alumni are Nii Jormo Wallace-Atiapah ’18 (BSc. Business Administration), Ida Akorfa Crown ’20 (BSc. Accounting), Kwame Smith Acquah ’19 (BSc. Business Administration, MA Brands and Communications Management) and Kwabena Gyasensir ’18 (BSc. Accounting).
The selection of the four alumni positions UPSA as the University with the highest number of graduates at this year’s Deloitte Graduate Academy, a scholarship training programme for young professionals across the globe.
“In UPSA, we continue to invest in our students by positioning them on an amazing journey of excellence; one that will help them to develop intellectually, socially, personally and professionally to excel in their careers as graduates,” says Professor Charles Barnor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of UPSA.
“Each year, we receive positive feedback from industry players and corporate bodies on the performance of our graduates and the giant progress they are making in their respective careers, and the selection of four of our former students into the Deloitte Academy attests to this.”
The eight other finalists in the academy were selected from Ashesi University, University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and SMC University, Switzerland.
In all, over 800 applications were received, out of which 12 candidates were selected for the 2022 cohort of trainees.
Since its inception in 2018, the Deloitte Academy has been grooming, training and assisting young accountants to develop skills in auditing, accounting and financial reporting, tax and business process involvement as well as soft skills including presentation skills and personal branding.
The programme also provides an opportunity for participants to gain practical experience and exposure, which will be relevant in the ever-changing market place.
At the end of the three-month intensive training programme, participants would be awarded certificates and equipped for the job market whilst becoming part of Deloitte’s pool of Finance Professionals for future employment.
