UPSA graduate, Ralphael Tetteh wins 2024 Top Intern Competition

Raphael Kaizer Tetteh, a graduate of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), has been crowned winner of the maiden edition of TV3’s Top Intern competition.

His outstanding project, “The Savanna Glow” was was adjudged the overall best in the competition. The project seeks to bring an end to the migration of women and men from Northern Ghana in search of non-existing jobs in big cities.

For his prize, Kaizer took home a cash prize of GHC10,000, an internship opportunity with a reputable organisation, a trip abroad, and an educational scholarship abroad worth USD40,000.

Other finalists on the night included Abraham Abudulai Ayagri (University of Cape Coast alumnus), Esinu Adza, and Nana Yaw Addae-Sam, both alumni of the University of Ghana.

The Top Intern competition exposed participants to the corporate world while providing them with a platform to exhibit their talents.

The 10-week competition saw 12 graduates from various Ghanaian universities battle it out for the top intern spot.

Participants were taken through various tasks such as marketing, content production, and advertising strategies, among other fields.

“The skills and knowledge I acquired from UPSA were instrumental in developing my master plan as well as navigating the challenges of the competition,” Raphael said shortly after the event.

“My understanding of public relations and business management principles undoubtedly contributed to the effectiveness of this project and my overall performance in the competition.”

In a congratulatory message, Head of the Department of Communication Studies at UPSA, Dr Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah attributed Raphael’s success to the rigorous academic and professional training provided by UPSA.

“UPSA’s motto, “Scholarship with Professionalism”, is a testament to the University’s commitment to providing students with the knowledge and skills through its Masterclass Sessions, Time with PR Practitioners and a vigorous practice-based industrial internship, all geared at solving problems on the socio-economic development of Ghana,” Dr Amankwah said.

Raphael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations Management from UPSA.

He had his secondary education at Ashaiman Senior High School, where he read General Arts.

Raphael aspires to obtain a Ph.D., address the UN General Assembly, build a reputable brand that will stand the test of time, and speak at the TEDx Conference.
