UPSA Global Alumni collaborates with Department of Urban Roads to fix malfunctioning streetlights on campus

  • Date March 31, 2023

The UPSA Global Alumni Association has joined forces with the Department of Urban Roads to fix faulty streetlights within and around the UPSA campus.

The collaboration was in response to the need to enhance the safety of students and staff by improving visibility at night.

The Department of Urban Roads of the Ministry of Roads and Highways and Prefos Limited, a reputable electrical engineering company specialising in street lighting, carried out a preliminary inspection of the affected streetlights to facilitate the restoration process.

The project is part of a broader effort to create a safe and secure environment for members of the University Community, particularly at night when minor criminal activities have recently been reported.

The President of the UPSA Global Alumni, Mr Francis Dadzie, emphasized the Association’s recognition of the significance of ensuring a safe environment for all members of the academic community.

He explained that fixing the streetlights would contribute to enhancing security within and around the university, while ultimately mitigating petty crimes in the area.

He reiterated the Association’s commitment to supporting the University’s efforts to foster a sense of community and enhance the welfare of all stakeholders.

Mr Dadzie urged the University community to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.

The streetlight initiative is one of several projects undertaken by the Alumni Association to improve the campus environment.
