The University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) Global Alumni Association on Sunday, 20th June 2021 handed over a fully-stocked stationery shop to Madam Augustina Mantey, a petty trader in Madina.

The gesture was in reciprocation for the invaluable assistance and selfless service Madam Augustina, who is also known as Auntie Efua, offered to the alumni during their time as UPSA students.

The Alumni Association was represented by Mr. Francis Dadzie (1989), Alumni Coordinator, Mr. Ernest Boateng Wiafe (1988), Mr. Kwame Manu Debrah (1989) and Mr. Albert Oteng-Owusu (1990).

Speaking shortly after the handing over ceremony, Mr. Francis Dadzie recounted the diverse assistance Auntie Efua was notable for during their days in school. He said the down-to-earth trader despite her busy schedules provided laundry services to students and ran other errands including fetching of water.

He mentioned that Auntie Efua was of great help to them and the student community at large, and it was time to give back to her for her diligent service.

The fully stocked stationery shop cost GH¢10,555. Auntie Efua was also given a brand new smartphone to aid her business. The Association also opened an account in her name with treasury bills worth GH¢5000 and assigned an accountant to be at her disposal to assist with proper book-keeping.

Auntie Efua who could not hide her joy expressed appreciation to the Global Alumni Association for honouring her. She advised on the need to serve with diligence as one cannot tell when their blessing will come.
