The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), on Friday, January 9, 2025, commissioned a new ultra-modern residential edifice to serve as the official residence of the Vice-Chancellor.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA, Prof John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, expressed his happiness with the completion of the project.

He commended the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abednego Okoe Amartey, for playing a pivotal role in initiating the project.

He noted that the completion of the residence represents continuity in leadership and vision, adding that he is privileged to be the first Vice-Chancellor to occupy the facility.

The former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Okoe Amartey, in his remarks, recounted the challenges the University faced during his tenure and the bold decisions taken to secure and develop the property.

He described the commissioning of the residential complex as a dream fulfilled, emphasising that the edifice was envisioned to provide a befitting and functional official residence for the Vice-Chancellor of UPSA.

The Chancellor of the University, Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong, also lauded Management for the initiative, describing it as a strategic investment that enhances the institution’s status and demonstrates prudent stewardship of University resources.

The five-bedroom facility, located a few miles from the UPSA campus, is designed to serve as the official residence of the Vice-Chancellor. The complex also includes adjoining guest and meeting facilities intended to accommodate official visitors and dignitaries, further supporting the University’s administrative and ceremonial functions.

Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, Dr Harry Lawson Agbanu, described the commissioning of the Vice-Chancellor’s residence as a testament to the University’s commitment to sound governance, continuity, and institutional development.

He noted that the project reflects the Governing Council’s resolve to support Management with the necessary infrastructure to enhance leadership effectiveness and uphold the University’s growing stature.

The ceremony was attended by some members of the Governing Council as well as senior university management officials.
