UPSA Chancellor Dr K.K. Sarpong receives honourary doctorate

Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. Kofi Koduah Sarpong, has been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the country, the international community, and humanity at large.

The prestigious honour, a Degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), Honoris Causa, was bestowed upon him by the University of Cape Coast at a Special Congregation ceremony held on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

The accolade recognises Dr. Sarpong’s decades-long dedication and exemplary service that have made a lasting impact on various sectors, not only within Ghana’s borders but also on an international scale.

Dr. Sarpong assumed the role of Chancellor at UPSA in June 2022, becoming the second Chancellor since the institution attained full university status in 2008.

Prior to his appointment, Dr. Sarpong served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and also held the position of CEO at Asante Kotoko Sporting Club from 2010 to 2013.

His educational accomplishments are equally impressive, as he holds a Chartered Accountant designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG) and a PhD in Industrial Business Studies with a focus on Accounting from the University of Warwick in England.

Furthermore, he holds a Master of Business Administration degree in Accounting from the University of Ghana, a Master of Arts degree in Ministry from the Trinity Theological Seminary, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Dr. K.K. Sarpong was born on September 10, 1954, in Beposo, Ashanti Region, and began his basic education in 1960. He had his secondary education at Sekondi College in the Western Region.
