The University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) has cut the sod for the construction of a multipurpose lecture and office facility at its new ICT Campus in Ogbojo, Accra. The ceremony took place on Thursday, 24 September 2026.
The project forms part of the University’s plans to expand its teaching and administrative facilities to support a growing student population and its ICT-focused programmes. The building is planned as a six-storey facility, with four storeys to be developed in the first phase.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. John Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, described the project as an important step in establishing the new campus. He said it would provide the first lecture block at the Ogbojo site.
Prof. Mawutor thanked the chiefs and people of Ogbojo for their support in facilitating the acquisition of land for the campus. He said the University’s presence had the potential to create opportunities for local residents and businesses as construction and campus activities progressed.
The Chairman of the UPSA Governing Council, Dr Harry Lawson Agbanu, also expressed appreciation to the traditional leaders and community for their cooperation. He said the campus could contribute to economic activity and employment in the area.
Members of the Governing Council, deans, directors, faculty and staff attended the ceremony alongside traditional leaders and other stakeholders.
The Ogbojo ICT Campus is expected to increase UPSA’s capacity to provide teaching and working space as the University develops its technology-focused programmes.
